Off the Wall: A Johnny Depp marathon on Encore
Off the Wall goes off the Depp end.
JOHNNY DEPP TAKEOVER Saturday on Encore, the always interesting actor stars in eight straight films -- France-set "Chocolat" (9 a.m.), charming "Benny and Joon" (11:05 a.m.), timely Peter Pan saga "Finding Neverland" (12:45 p.m.), gonzo biopic "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" (2:30 p.m.), thriller "Secret Window" (4:30 p.m.), sci-fi's "The Astronaut's Wife" (6:10 p.m.), reboot misfire "The Lone Ranger" (8 p.m.) and Robert Rodriguez's wild "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" (10:30 p.m.).
WHO NEEDS SANTA WHEN YOU'VE GOT HUGGY? Huggy Bear, that is -- the flamboyant street dude in the wild duds on "Starsky & Hutch" (Saturday 6 p.m.-4 a.m., El Rey; check availability via TV provider/streaming devices). Beyond this informant-centric marathon, there's the "Starsky & Hutch Tribute Show" (Saturday at 4:30 p.m., Cozi TV), celebrating this tire-squealing '70s cop fave. Cozi runs the show Tuesdays 8-10 p.m.
ANACONDAS, FAST CARS AND NAKED MOVIE STARS That's what Discovery promises for its Mega Week, Sunday through Dec. 14. Kicking things off: the must-see episode "Naked & Awkward" (Sunday at 6:45 p.m.), in which James Franco and Seth Rogen do their own "Naked and Afraid," marooned in a remote location with no Hollywood perks (much less clothing). Other Mega-thrills include snakefest "Eaten Alive" (Sunday at 9 p.m.) and "Knight Rider" car KITT on "Fast N' Loud" (Monday at 9 p.m.). Seek your own "Naked and Afraid" appearance at nwsdy.li/nanda
AWARDS ALERT(S) It's time for those trend-spotting "New Now Next Awards" (Sunday at 8 p.m., Logo; Friday at 7 p.m., MTV), always a scene worth seeing. More at logotv.comAlso naming names: "The Soup Awards Live" (Friday at 10 p.m., E!), as Joel McHale's clipfest returns to its new (old) night by eyeing the year's most outrageous TV moments.
