MOVIES AS ART Not art like Le Cinema, but art like abstract painting. "Fragments: Surviving Pieces of Lost Films" (Sunday night at midnight, Turner Classic Movies) is a crafty two-hour collage, solving the quandary of what to do with partial footage from the majority of early 20th century features that remain largely missing, their prints either disposed of or decayed over the decades. Glimpsed among the thematic segments: horror legend Lon Chaney, color film of flapper fave Clara Bow, actor Emil Jannings' first-year Oscar work in 1927's "The Way of All Flesh" and early sound feature "Gold Diggers of Broadway."
