Regarding "Hiking path's not a top priority" [Letters, Feb. 13], to those who agree with that thought: I say times are tough so let's shut down all the parks, playgrounds, ballfields and beaches. Maybe sell off all those wasted open-space properties we foolishly bought to set aside.
Thankfully, well-intentioned legislators are working hard on this rail- to-trail project, including Assemb. Daniel Losquadro (R-Shoreham) and Suffolk County Presiding Officer William Lindsay (D-Holbrook).
Many here in Holbrook, Sayville, Bayport and Blue Point are working on a similar proposal, the Greenleaf Trail. We, too, look forward to helpful input from county leaders.
