Le'Veon Bell's 35-yard scoring run broke a 24-all tie with 10:58 remaining as host Michigan State (7-2, 4-1 Big Ten), ranked 17th, edged Minnesota, 31-24, Saturday. Bell ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns and Kirk Cousins threw for two TDs.

Rutgers rallies

San San Te kicked a 37-yard field goal in overtime and host Rutgers (6-3, 3-2 Big East) became bowl eligible with a 20-17 victory over South Florida. Chas Dodd threw a tying 34-yard touchdown pass to Brendan Coleman with 1:08 to play . . . UConn quarterback Scott McCummings ran for two touchdowns and Lyle McCombs had 152 yards rushing and a score to lead host Connecticut (4-5, 2-2 Big East) to a 28-21 win over Syracuse (5-4, 1-3).

Irish clamp down

Tommy Rees threw touchdown passes of 38 yards to Tyler Eifert and 16 yards to Michael Floyd and Notre Dame (6-3) shut out host Wake Forest in the second half in a 24-17 victory.

Sooners lose Broyles

Landry Jones threw two touchdown passes during a 28-point third-quarter surge and No. 6 Oklahoma pulled away from Texas A&M, 41-25, but lost All-American receiver Ryan Broyles for the rest of the year with a knee injury.-- AP
