Brad Bergesen tossed a four-hitter for his first major-league shutout, and Jake Fox hit a two-run homer as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Tampa Bay Rays, 6-0, Saturday in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Bergesen (1-4) picked up his first victory since last Sept. 21 in Boston. The righthander entered 0-5 with a 9.13 ERA in five career starts against Tampa Bay.

Baltimore improved to 18-20 this year. The Orioles didn't reach 18 victories last season until June 15, when their record was 18-47.

Blue Jays 9, Twins 3: Jose Bautista hit a two-run homer in the 11th inning as visiting Toronto won its fourth straight.

Tigers 3, Royals 0: Brad Penny pitched eight scoreless innings as host Detroit won its seventh straight.

Angels 3, Rangers 2: Maicer Izturis hit a two-out RBI single in the ninth to snap a tie for visiting Los Angeles. The Angels' Dan Haren wound up without a decision after allowing only two runs in 72/3 innings, and is winless (0-2) in his last five starts despite a 1.93 ERA that is second-best in the AL.

Marlins 1, Nationals 0: Anibal Sanchez (3-1) allowed three hits in eight innings and struck out nine as Florida won its eighth straight at Washington.

Reds 7, Cardinals 3: Johnny Cueto took a shutout into the eighth, and Ramon Hernandez hit solo homers on each of the first two pitches he saw for host Cincinnati.

Brewers 8, Pirates 2: In Milwaukee, Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun each hit solo home runs as the Brewers beat the Pirates for the eighth straight time.

Giants 3, Cubs 0: Ryan Vogelsong pitched six scoreless innings in a rain-shortened game at Wrigley Field for his first career shutout.

Padres 9, Rockies 7: Brad Hawpe hit a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth to complete a six-run comeback in Denver.-- AP
