Otaka's homer wins it for Plainview JFK
Ena Otaka hit a two-run walk-off homer in the eighth inning to lift Plainview JFK over Valley Stream Central, 6-5, Saturday in Nassau Conference AA-II softball.
Anna Lin had walked before Otaka's at-bat. Christina Legotti and Billie Golan each had RBI singles in the seventh to tie the score at 4 for Plainview JFK (4-2). Katie Rutcofsky struck out 14 in the win.
Mepham 4, Carey 1: Mary Galgano drove in the go-ahead runs with a two-run single in the eighth for Mepham (4-2) in Conference AA-I. Victoria Gunnels allowed three hits and an unearned run, and Nicole Pazienza and Claudia Law each had an RBI.
Sewanhaka 2, Clarke 1: Monique Ro- berge's two-run homer in the sixth gave Sewanhaka the win in A-I. Roberge was also the winning pitcher, allowing four hits and striking out 17 in the complete game. Michelle Mongiello was 2-for-3 for the winners (1-4).
Floral Park 10, Seaford 4: Melissa Correa went 4-for-5 with five RBIs to lead Floral Park (3-2) in A-I. Samantha Giovanneillo was 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Wantagh 8, Jericho 6: Kelly Mignoli's two-run triple in the sixth inning gave Wantagh (3-2) an 8-2 lead in A-III. Lindsay Divack hit a grand slam for Jericho in the bottom of the sixth to create the final margin.
Bay Shore 3, St. John the Baptist 1: Taylor McGowan allowed a hit and an unearned run and struck out eight to lead Bay Shore (6-0) in non-league. She also went 2-for-3 and Courtney Syrett was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs. Amber Fogarty tripled and scored the go-ahead run on an error in the fifth.
baseballCentereach 10, Comsewogue 6: Matt Dixon was 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs for Centereach (2-0) in non-league. Keith Gurciullo went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Garden City 5, Carey 2: Frank Courdio went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Garden City (5-1) in non-league.
St. Anthony's 4, Kellenberg 1: Matt Grosser gave up three hits, an unearned run and struck out 11 in 5 2/3 innings for St. Anthony's (2-2) in CHSAA. Ryan D'Alessandro went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
boys lacrosseOceanside 15, Baldwin 12: Chris Hughes had three goals and six assists for Oceanside (2-1), which rallied from a 4-1 deficit in Conference I. Andrew Failla made 16 saves in the win.
Valley Stream Central 8, Freeport 6: Connor Sciacca had four goals and an assist, and Jesse Oppenheimer added two goals for Central (2-1) in Conference I. Evan Lapice scored six goals for Freeport.
West Islip 10, Bay Shore 6: Drew Federico had a goal and four assists and Jack Kelly made seven saves for West Islip (3-0) in Suffolk Division I. Kevin Cox had three goals for Bay Shore.
West Babylon 16, Copiague 13: Alex Hennessy had three goals and three assists and Justin Fitzpatrick added two goals and two assists for West Babylon (3-0) in Division I.
Connetquot 12, Middle Country 6: Steve Compitello and Craig Kiernan each scored three goals and had three assists for Connetquot (2-1) in Division I. Zach Oliveri made 12 saves in the win.
St. Paul's (Md.) 7, Garden City 5: Patric Berkery scored twice for Garden City (4-2) in non-league. Rob Maddux had three goals for St. Paul's (7-3).

Carle Place 16, Plainedge 14: Alice Dawson had five goals and an assist for Carle Place (3-2) in non-league. Bridget Kelly added two goals and three assists and Christine Wengler had three goals.
Great Neck South 19, West Hempstead 11: Senior Dana Levine scored a career-high eight goals for Great Neck South (2-1) in Conference B-III.
Garden City 18, John Jay-Cross River 6: Caroline Tarzian had three goals and two assists for Garden City (5-0) in non-league. Barbara Sullivan added three goals, Lauren Engelke had two goals and an assist and Linda Attanasio had a goal and an assist for the Trojans.
Floyd 11, Rocky Point 8: Courtney Murphy and Monique Walker each scored four goals and Jackie Anderson had two goals and three assists for Floyd (6-0) in non-league. Caitlin Gargan had four goals and an assist for Rocky Point (2-3).
Northport 19, Half Hollow Hills 9: Shannon Gilroy had nine goals and an assist for Northport (5-0) in Division I. Allie Breitfeller added four goals and an assist and Cortney Fortunato had three goals and three assists. Ariel O'Shea scored three goals for Half Hollow Hills.
