Our tax dollars are in Mubarak's bank
It is no secret that even as people here at home struggle, starve and freeze, our government has been very generously charitable to Egypt ["Rising food prices are driving instability," Opinion, Feb. 11]. Since so many people there exist in poverty and squalor, where did all of that money go?
Obviously, our taxpayer dollars are part of the reported billions in President Hosni Mubarak's newly exposed Swiss bank accounts. When are our politicians going to put their own people before the rest of the world? So many of these wasteful attempts to save and please everyone outside of the United States wind up being nothing but unearned, big fat bonuses for corrupt leaders all over the globe.
