For the first time since 2005, the Oyster Bay Town board has increased animal shelter fees and at the same time added some new fees.

The board Tuesday approved the following fee changes: Dog adoptions: from $65 to $80; cat adoptions, $59 to $84; redeeming a dog picked up by the town, first redemption, from $15 to $25, second time, $30 to $50, and third, $45 to $75.

The new fees are a daily holding fee for a redeemed animal, $5 per day; fecal test for a redeemed animal, $10; flea treatment for a redeemed animal, $10; rabies shot for a redeemed animal, $25; and microchip, $25.
