The Town of Oyster Bay board will hold a public hearing Jan. 18 concerning numerous fire-related contracts. Included in the discussion will be:

* The proposed contract for the rental of fire hydrants from the Oyster Bay Water District for 2011. The agreement covers the rental of 225 fire hydrants for $20,250.

* The proposed contract for the rental of fire hydrants from the Plainview Water District for 2011. The agreement covers the rental of 1,240 fire hydrants for $80,600.

* The proposed contracts for fire protection for 2011. Contracts with the following fire companies will be considered: Bayville Fire Company No. 1; East Norwich Volunteer Fire Company No. 1; Farmingdale Fire Company; Glenwood Hook & Ladder Engine and Hose Company No. 1; Oyster Bay Fire Company No. 1 and Atlantic Steamer Company No. 1; Plainview Volunteer Fire Company Inc.; Roslyn Fire Company-Highlands and Roslyn Fire Company-Rescue; and the Wantagh Fire District, which covers Tobay Beach.

Contracts are for one year, except Oyster Bay Fire Company No. 1 and Atlantic Steamer Company No. 1, which are five-year contacts with a 3 percent yearly increase.

The hearing will be at 7 p.m. in the hearing room of Town Hall North, 54 Audrey Ave., Oyster Bay. After the regular town business, the board will hear public comment on any subject.
