The Town of Oyster Bay is asking residents to participate in a 2013 Soldier Collection Drive to gather supplies to be sent to servicemen and women around the globe.

This is the sixth year the town is participating in the collection drive. Last year, town residents, with the assistance of the Civil Service Employees Association, donated more than 2,000 pounds of supplies.

Donations can be dropped off through March 15 at Town Hall in Oyster Bay, the CSEA entrance at the Department of Public Works in Syosset, Town Hall South in Massapequa, and at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center at Bethpage Community Park.

Items needed include antibiotic and cortisone ointments, white socks, Visine, black or brown T-shirts, Pepto-Bismol tablets, beef jerky, Tylenol/Advil, old cellphones without chargers, Band-Aids, peanut butter, deodorant, cereal, microwave pastas and soups, Mach 3 razors, GNC protein shakes, mouthwash, pre-mixed packets of tuna fish, lip balm, nuts, body wash, feminine hygiene products, gummy bears, baby wipes, lollipops, hard candy, mints and empty shoe boxes.
