Town of Oyster Bay senior citizens who are interested in adopting a pet can bring an older dog or cat home and avoid the adoption fee.
The program, called Seniors for Seniors, allows anyone 62 or older to adopt a senior dog or cat at the Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter and have the adoption and spaying or neutering costs waived. Adopters would only be responsible for paying the $5 license fee.
The shelter, at 150 Miller Place, Syosset, is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday. For more information, call 516-677-5784; photos of available pets can be seen here.
