The Oyster Bay Town Board on Tuesday authorized Supervisor John Venditto to sign a $121,500 contract for dredging sand that has filled in around the Tappen Beach launching ramp.

The contract will be awarded to Amma Construction Corp. of Huntington Station, the lowest acceptable bidder.

The contract calls for removing 2,000 cubic yards of material, based on surveys of the Hempstead Harbor bay bottom near the ramp. The work will be completed before this year’s boating season.

The ramp area was last dredged about five years ago.
