The San Diego Padres have never had a no-hitter in their 43-year history, but they came close Saturday.

Then they lost.

Juan Uribe doubled for the Dodgers' first hit with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and scored on Dioner Navarro's single as Los Angeles beat the Padres, 1-0. "I've seen some crazy things in my nine years in the big leagues," Padres second baseman Orlando Hudson said, "but that's the way the game goes. So what are you going to do? You just keep playing."

Uribe was down to his last strike with two outs and no one on base when he drove a pitch from Luke Gregerson (2-2) over the head of leftfielder Chris Denorfia for Los Angeles' first hit -- and only the second hit of the game for either team.

Navarro then looped a 1-and-2 pitch into short right-center to give the Dodgers three consecutive shutout victories for the first time since July 1991.

Braves 4, Phillies 1: Alex Gonzalez had a go-ahead RBI single and Brian McCann added a two-run homer in the 11th inning for visiting Atlanta, which has won 10 of 12. Philadelphia starter Cliff Lee hit his first career homer, off Tommy Hanson.

Marlins 6, Astros 1: Ricky Nolasco tossed a seven-hitter for his sixth career complete game and Logan Morrison hit a bases-loaded triple for host Florida.

Cardinals 7, Diamondbacks 6: Albert Pujols tied it in the eighth inning with his first home run since returning from the disabled list and pinch hitter Tony Cruz had a walk-off RBI double in the ninth.

Rockies 2, Nationals 1: Ubaldo Jimenez allowed one run in eight innings and Todd Helton homered, doubled and drove in both runs for visiting Colorado.

Blue Jays 5, Indians 4:Jose Bautista led off the top of the 10th with his second homer of the game for Toronto. Bautista, who leads the majors with 31 homers, connected against Chris Perez after the Indians tied it on Travis Buck's two-out double in the ninth. "Right now he is reminding me of the way Barry Bonds was when he was in his prime," Indians manager Manny Acta said of Bautista. "When you make a mistake, he will not foul it off. He just hits it out. He will not even hit it off the wall. He just hits it out."

Rangers 7, Athletics 6:Josh Hamilton hit a walk-off two-run homer, his fourth hit of the game, as host Texas extended its winning streak to six games.

Red Sox 4, Orioles 0: John Lackey (6-8) struck out seven in 62/3 innings as host Boston extended its winning streak to five games.

White Sox 4, Twins 3:Alexei Ramirez won it with a two-out single in the ninth for host Chicago.-- AP
