Parking lots half full already at Jones Beach
Parking lots at Jones Beach were nearly half full as of 11 a.m.
Field 6, the smallest lot, was closed but the rest of the parking fields remained open, said George Gorman, state parks regional director for Long Island.
Free water was provided for the first time at Jones Beach Friday, given the high temperatures and heat indexes expected to reach near 110 degrees through the day.
