Parking rates in East Williston will more than double
Come February, parking rates in the village of East Williston will more than double — a necessary adjustment, Mayor David Tanner said, after 10 years of flat rates.
The board recently voted, 5-0, to raise fees for its commuter lot to $75 from the current rate of $35. The following year, the price for village residents will rise to $90.
The rates have not changed in 10 years, village officials said. Parking for adjacent commercial buildings will increase, too, from $50 to $100.
“In the majority of cases, we are well below what a lot of the other surrounding communities are charging,” Tanner said, citing Williston Park, which charges residents $125 for the year.
East Williston also voted to charge more to install plumbing fixtures. While securing a permit will still cost $50, residents will pay $15 for each fixture, up from $5.
