The Patchogue Village board of trustees has set a June 24 public hearing on a change of zone application for a proposed senior assisted-living facility.
Applicant D&F A.L. LLC of Patchogue wants to change the zone of a vacant parking lot on East Main Street from retail commercial to assisted living and housing in order to construct and operate the facility.
The three-story building would have 143 residents, Mayor Paul Pontieri said.
“It’s something we don’t have in the village ... and it will put more people walking on Main Street,” he said.
The board of trustees wants the village planning board, which already has reviewed the project, to make recommendations before the governing body votes on the proposed change.
