Former Gov. David A. Paterson is heading back to work.

Paterson, who left office Dec. 31, will teach New York University undergraduates in the College of Arts & Science about government and public policy starting in the fall, school spokesman Robert Polner said Thursday.

The former governor, who Polner said "joined the NYU community this week," will deliver lectures and appear at some university public events during the current semester and this summer.

It has not been determined, Polner said, exactly what classes or what title Paterson will hold at the school.

Paterson's post will not come with university tenure, and he will not be on track to earn tenure, Polner said.

Paterson, 56, holds an undergraduate degree from Columbia University and a law degree from Hofstra University.

He served 22 years in the State Senate before being elected lieutenant governor in 2006.
