Perfection for East Meadow's Juarez
Perfect games seem to run in the Juarez family.
East Meadow freshman bowler Jeff Juarez rolled his first 300 game in high school competition in Game 2 of a 784 series on Thursday to help East Meadow (10-2) clinch the Conference IV championship with a 849-806, 966-755, 773-743 win. Juarez also bowled a 279 in Game 1 and a 204 in Game 3, combining for his high-series of the season.
"Everyone in the bowling alley basically stopped and watched him," East Meadow coach Andrew Ghirardi said. "It was a good feeling for him and for all of us. It was a good show."
Jeff became the second member of the Juarez family to roll a 300 for East Meadow. His older brother Justin, who was the first to greet Jeff with a hug after he completed the perfect game Thursday, also rolled a 300 game before graduating in 2009.
Juarez entered Thursday's match with a 209 average.
"He has struggled and definitely needed this to boost his confidence," Ghirardi said. "He was caught in between a lot of shots this year. Today he bowled phenomenal. It just all came together when we needed it the most."
