With the great weather yesterday, it was a perfect time to go around Westhampton Beach and add to our ever-growing list of community photo galleries.

Westhampton Beach is a beachfront village in the Town of Southampton with a year-round population of about 2,000, which increases in the summer months.

The village includes the barrier beaches along Dune Road, a boutique shopping center along Main Street and the Westhampton Beach School District. It is also home to the Suffolk County Francis S. Gabreski Airport, out of which the New York Air National Guard 106th Rescue Group operates, and Suffolk County’s Cupsogue Beach.

The area was settled in 1666, and the Village of Westhampton Beach was incorporated in 1928. The greater Westhampton area also includes the villages of West Hampton Dunes and Quogue, and the hamlets of Quiogue, East Quogue, Westhampton, Remsenberg and Speonk.

For more than 20 years, the community has been listed as a Tree City USA, which is administered by the National Arbor Day Foundation. There are more than 30 species of trees represented throughout the village. A self-guided walking tour of notable trees is available on the village’s website.
