Plan would make minor changes in Conn. maps

The plan submitted Friday is similar to one requested by Democrats. It does not include major changes sought by Republicans, which would have included the relocation of New Britain and Danbury from the 5th District into the 1st District.

Nancy DiNardo, the chairman of the state Democratic Party, said she believes the map is fair.

Jerry Labriola, the Republican Party's state chair, said he was still reviewing the plan.

Special Master Nathaniel Persily was appointed last month by the state's highest court after the legislative committee charged with redrawing the congressional boundaries failed to reach a bipartisan deal. The court has until Feb. 15 to approve a plan.
