Supporters of Lindsay Lohan and Christian LaBella, the aide of an Illinois congressman that the actress scuffled with in the wee hours of Sunday morning at the W Hotel, are squaring off.

LaBella's uncle Peter Jessop told the Daily News his nephew was "stunned" by his arrest.

"It's a shame when a celebrity like that can use her publicist to tar a kid who has done nothing wrong," he said.

Lohan's publicist, Steve Honig, countered that LaBella's claim of innocence was "a crock of s--- ... The kid had to be pulled off Lindsay."

Bella's uncle said his nephew, an aide for Rep. John Shimkus visiting New York for the weekend, met up with Lindsay's clan at a club Saturday night. But according to TMZ.com, Lohan, 26, told friends that LaBella, 25, befriended one of her pals at celeb haunt 1 Oak solely to get close to her, and invited himself to her after-hours party.

After discovering he was photographing her, Lohan confronted LaBella around 4:30 a.m. and grabbed his phone, according to published reports. A fight ensued in which Lohan claimed to have been choked, thrown on a bed and scratched.

LaBella was arrested, but cops dropped assault charges after being unable to substantiate them and he was released.

Lohan and LaBella have reportedly filed harassment charges against each other, but an NYPD spokesman said yesterday that "there are no charges pending or being filed with these two."

Lohan was arrested in Manhattan on Sept. 19 for leaving the scene after she allegedly clipped a man while parking.
