Pol collecting school supplies for homeless
County Legis. Jack Eddington (I-Medford) is collecting items for Suffolk County’s annual drive to gather school supplies for the county’s homeless children.
Eddington has designated his office, at 90 W. Main St. in Patchogue, as a drop-off point.
The deadline for donations is Aug. 1, Eddington said in a statement. More information about the county’s effort, called “Backpack Pirates Project,” is available by calling Eddington’s office at 631-854-1400.
Suggested items include 4-ounce school glue, index card boxes, wide-point washable markers, rulers, plastic shoe boxes, sharpened No. 2 pencils, erasers, colored pencils, children’s scissors, manual pencil sharpeners, baby wipes, folders with pockets, large T-shirts, red folders, thin markers, broad-tip markers, white-ruled black-and-white notebooks, glue sticks, dry-erase markers, black markers, tissues, erasable pens, crayons, fine-point color markers, pencil boxes and plastic colored folders.
