Rep. Steve Israel (D-Huntington, above) will host a grant writing workshop Friday for more than 150 Long Islanders representing non-profits, small businesses, churches, schools and municipalities.
Representatives of the U.S. Office of Minority Health Resource Center will offer advice on how to access Grants.gov, research relevant grant opportunities and develop a successful application.
Israel, in a news release, said cutbacks to local and federal government programs have made applying for federal grants increasingly important and competitive.
The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. at the Van Nostrand Theater at the Sagtikos Arts and Science Center, Suffolk County Community College, Brentwood Campus, 1001 Crooked Hill Rd., Brentwood.
Drop-in slots are available. Call Rep. Israel's office at 631-951-2210 for more information.
