Polar Plunge on March 2 for Special Olympics

The Town of North Hempstead announced that it will host an annual Polar Plunge on March 2, which calls on residents to boldly dip into the chilly waters of North Hempstead Beach Park.
A Polar Plunge helps raise funds for Special Olympic programs and similar events are held throughout the state.
WBAB radio will provide music for the day. There will be face painting, free snacks and hot beverages, the town said. Participants — or teams of participants — who raise funds are eligible to win prizes.
Registration begins at 9 a.m.; the plunge is scheduled for noon.
Special Olympics athletes will attend. The town said that the supervisor, Jon Kaiman, plus state Assemb. Michelle Schimel (D-Great Neck) and town Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio will also take the plunge.
