Police: Drunken driver rolls SUV, critically injures two
Two people were critically injured and five others went to the hospital for treatment early Saturday after a sport-utility vehicle driven by a woman police said was intoxicated flipped over on the Wantagh State Parkway near Levittown.
Samantha Poulsen, 21, of Bethpage, was driving the 2001 Ford Escape when it rolled over at 2:50 a.m. on the parkway just north of the Southern State Parkway, state police said.
Passengers John Dick and Timothy Walsh, both 20, were in critical condition yesterday at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.
Dick suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung, and Walsh had head injuries, police said. Their places of residence were not immediately known.
Poulsen was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
The other passengers were taken to the hospital and later released, police said.
