Police investigate accident on Northern State

The Dix Hills Fire Department and Melville Fire Department responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision on the Northern State Parkway, eastbound lanes, east of Wolf Hill Road in Dix Hills, shortly after midnite, Monday, November 15. The crash involved a Honda sedan and a Chevrolet van. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the van was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Dix Hills Fire Department Rescue Squad with non-life-threatening injuries. The eastbound side of the Northern State Parkway was closed early Monday morning in South Huntington while police investigated an accident, according to the Department of Transportation's website.
The accident was reported at 12:24 a.m. Monday and closed all eastbound lanes between Exit 41 (Wolf Hill Road) and Exit 42 (Deer Park Avenue).
The incident was resolved at 6:12 a.m., the website reported. The traffic camera at Exit 42 showed traffic moving in both directions.
