Nassau County police are looking for information about an altercation in Hempstead Sunday that led to multiple gunshots that wounded two people.

According to third squad detectives, two men were involved in a physical dispute on Peters Avenue Sunday around 2:15 p.m. Two groups of men were watching the altercation, police said, when men from each group produced handguns.

Several shots were fired, and police said a man, 20, was struck in the arm, and a woman, 26, who was driving her vehicle near the fight, was shot in the upper torso. Both shooting victims were hospitalized, police said.

Soon after the shots were fired, police said, all the men fled the scene.
