A Port Washington woman stopped on suspicion of speeding in a construction zone on the Northern State Parkway in Glen Cove early Tuesday faces drunken driving charges, State Police said.

Angela Matinale, 21, of 10 Marlin Lane, was driving a gray Toyota Camry west on the parkway going 68 mph in a 45-mph work zone, police said. She was stopped just west of the Meadowbrook State Parkway.

As she was being interviewed, troopers said they noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from her breath and vehicle.

Matinale provided a breath-analyzer sample of .17 percent and was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, police said.

She is scheduled to return to First District Court in Hempstead on July 28.
