The Town of North Hempstead is scheduled to continue a public hearing at 7:30 tonight over a proposal requiring property owners to remove snow and ice from fire hydrants on their land.

The resolution came at the urging of the town's Fire Advisory Council, which said unshoveled hydrant areas block access and may delay response times.
