Suffolk County police successfully tested the shooting-detection technology known as ShotSpotter Thursday in Huntington Station.

The high-tech system, which was activated in five Suffolk County communities over the weekend, was hailed by officials as an important tool in enhancing police response and for its crime deterrent potential.
