A charity polo match to benefit SUNY Old Westbury raised more than $80,000 Sunday, officials said.

The school’s 10th annual Summer Polo Match and Lawn Party was held at Whitney Fields near campus, with players supplied by the nation’s oldest polo organization, Old Westbury-based Meadowbrook Polo Club. More than 700 guests attended.

Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone received a land preservation award from the college and various alumni were given leadership honors.

Funds raised for the school — nearly $300,000 over the history of the event — are used for academic and program enhancements, as well as rehabilitation of historic stables on campus.

“It gives us a closer relationship to the community,” Old Westbury President Calvin Butts has said about the annual fundraiser.
