State Assemb. Dave McDonough (R-Merrick) and State Sen. Charles Fuschillo Jr. (R-Merrick) will co-host a hurricane preparedness program Tuesday.

The event will be  at 7 p.m. at Merrick Road Park, 2550 Clubhouse Rd., in Merrick. Representatives from the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management will provide residents with tips on how to prepare for natural disasters.

“From Tropical Storm Irene and superstorm Sandy, Long Island has recently experienced two tremendous natural disasters over the last few years,” McDonough said in a statement. “Both storms highlighted the resiliency of our community, and thanks to the brave actions by emergency personnel, the outcome, while tragic, was not as bad as it could have been. However, it is always important to reflect on these events and learn how to be better prepared for future storms.”

The program will include preparedness information and instructions from members of the Office of Emergency Management and other government officials.

“Being prepared and knowing what to do if a storm strikes is the best way to help keep your family and home safe,” Fuschillo said in a statement.

For more information, call McDonough’s office at 516-409-2070 or Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630.
