At their little store, three blocks inland from the Long Beach boardwalk, Henry Alletto and Aline Strobl make very good gelati and fruit sorbetti. But it's what they do with these raw materials that makes a journey here worthwhile: more than 50 flavors of frozen pops. Among the gelato pops, I especially enjoyed the macchiato (made with Hamptons Coffee) and the lemon cream pie. The sorbetto pops have all the depth and sweetness of . . . actual fruit - the cantaloupe actually tasted more like cantaloupe than most melons. For a finale, Alletto and Strobl layer gelati and sorbetti into stunning, striped forms that look like they were painted by Wayne Thiebaud. Pops range between $2.99 and $3.49. Popztarz is at 768 W. Beech St., Long Beach, 516-442-2688.
