The Town of Brookhaven and Village of Port Jefferson will receive funds for road construction and repair from the recently passed state budget, State Sen. Kenneth LaValle (R-Port Jefferson) announced Tuesday.

Brookhaven will receive $2,828,314 to patch up local highways, bridges and highway-railroad crossings under the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program, he said, and Port Jefferson will get $131,059.

“I know this money will help many cash-strapped municipalities with repairs to the pock-marked and pot-holed roads that have erupted as a result of the harsh winter,” LaValle said in a news release.
