Port Jeff merchants offer tax relief

Merchants in the Port Jefferson Village shopping district will offer tax-season relief with a discount of 8.625 percent — the equivalent of sales tax in Suffolk County — on purchases made the weekend of April 9-10, according to the village.

Participating merchants will have a green dollar-sign poster in store windows.

Customers who spend $20 in any participating store will be entered into a raffle for restaurant gift certificates.
