The Port Jefferson School District is closing its running track from Aug. 17 to Sept. 3 due to repairs and resurfacing, the district announced Monday.

In both an e-mail and phone message to district residents, Debra Ferry, the director of health, physical education and athletics, said a safety area will cut off access to the running track and football field.

The closure could be changed depending on weather conditions, Ferry noted.
