Port Jefferson Station road to be closed during construction

A road in Port Jefferson Station will be fully closed for months because of construction on routes 347 and 112, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The closure of Rose Lane began yesterday and will last through the fall, according to the DOT. Drivers will be rerouted to nearby parts of 347 and 112 instead.
The road’s closure is necessary for “major reconstruction” of the intersection of 347 and 112, including a “jug handle”-type turn lane in the southeast quadrant, the DOT said.
The construction is intended to reduce travel time and vehicle emissions for the estimated 71,000 drivers who travel on 347 every day.
