Port Jefferson Village officials have asked the developer of a proposed luxury apartment complex for details on plans to protect wetlands areas if the development is built.

Tritec Real Estate of East Setauket has proposed a 112-unit development on a 3.74-acre West Broadway parcel.

The project would have 178 underground parking spaces and a bridge spanning nearby Mill Creek.

The village planning board has said that the 3 1/2 story complex could pose an “adverse impact” on the creek.

Mayor Margot Garant said in an interview Friday that Tritec officials must prepare a plan to mitigate the project’s impact on the environment.

“The site itself is within some sensitive environmental wetlands,” she said, adding that Tritec officials are “doing a great job.”

The one- and two-bedroom apartments are expected to be rented for $2,000 to $3,000 monthly, Garant said.

Construction could begin this year and be completed by spring 2015, village officials said.
