Plans for senior housing along Manhasset Bay in Port Washington have been put on hold.
North Hempstead Town Board members were expected at Tuesday’s meeting to set a public hearing date to discuss site plan review and a special use permit relating to a developer’s plan to convert the shuttered Knickerbocker Yacht Club. Instead, they struck the item from the agenda.

Supervisor Jon Kaiman said the applicants — 433 Main Street Realty LLC — were not ready to proceed with the project, which called for a 3-story, 35-unit housing complex with restaurant and parking off Main Street.

The project already has received approval from the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Board member Fred Pollack, whose term ends this year after he was defeated in last week’s election, said recently that he opposes housing on Manhasset Bay.
