Ultimately it was John whose Ravens won, but as he approached his younger brother Jim, his enthusiasm about being a world champion clearly was muted. The two exchanged a brief, almost cool handshake and a few soft words for each other, and then went their separate ways.

"It's tough," John Harbaugh said, breaking away from his moment of glory to appreciate the pain his brother was feeling at the same exact time somewhere else in the same exact building. "It's very tough. It's a lot tougher than I thought it was going to be. It's very painful."

As for the exchange on the field, Jim Harbaugh said he told his older brother "Congratulations, and that I was proud of him."

And what did John say to Jim at that moment?

Said Jim, "I think he said the same thing."
