A Calverton animal rescue facility has been closed down after a restraining order was issued.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman sought the court order against Precious Pups Rescue after complaints from customers. People who got dogs from the shelter say the animals were given a clean bill of health by the facility, but were actually sick.
Some dog owners say they are shocked at the situation because they have adopted animals from there without any problems.
The facility's owner denies the allegations, and says the facts will come out in court. She says she has never adopted out sick animals disguised as healthy ones, but told News 12 Long Island that she could not comment on specific animals because of ongoing lawsuits.
As of now no sales or adoptions can take place until the case is heard by a judge at the end of the month.
