President Barack Obama urged Americans to honor the sacrifices of the men and women who are protecting the nation during his Memorial Day remarks at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

"As we go about our daily lives, we must remember that our countrymen are still serving, still fighting, still putting their lives on the line for all of us," the president said. He added that even as "we turn a page" away from Iraq and Afghanistan, we must "never forget that the nation is still at war."

Before addressing the crowd, Obama placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns and listened to the solemn sounds of taps.
