Pricey cop payouts can open a door

Regarding Ellis Henican's column "Pricey send-offs in lean times" [News, Feb. 27]: Now that the Nassau County Police Department, one of the highest-paid departments in the country, has made Nassau the laughingstock of the nation, we should have ample cause to review every salary, benefit package and retirement clause in the contract.
