The State Department of Environmental Conservation is expanding an investigation into groundwater contamination from a former dry-cleaning operation in Westbury.

The former Solvent Finishers, at 601 Cantiague Rock Rd., is listed as  Class 2 on the state’s Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites list. A March investigation found that contamination is migrating off-site, expanding south of Northern State Parkway.

Tetrachloroethene and trichloroethene have been found in groundwater 85 feet below the surface and flowing south and southwest.

The state agency will study the contamination and draft a cleanup plan.

The site, home to Rubies Costume Co., is next to a movie theater, BJs Wholesale club and a BMW dealership.
