Prominent architect Jay Locket Sears faces child porn charges

A prominent East End architect is facing federal child porn charges.
Jay Locket Sears was a surfer in the 1959 movie "Gidget" and went on to be an architect to the stars. Today, the 73-year-old found himself in federal court.
Sears is charged with possessing child pornography. Prosecutors say Sears took pictures of young girls at functions he attended, then pasted their heads onto pornographic images. In some instances, they say he also cut out pictures of his own head and pasted himself into the pornographic scenes. Documents say one of the pictures used was of an unnamed 11-year-old female celebrity.
Earlier this month, prosecutors say a man at the Brookhaven Town Dump found a garbage bag full of the pornographic pictures in a Dumpster and called authorities. Another man, who was hired by Sears to clean out his East Moriches apartment, allegedly discovered four more bags containing hundreds of images and many more hanging on his walls.
Prosecutors and the judge say they believe Sears is a great danger to his community.
