A woman struck by a Long Island Rail Road train Tuesday night in Douglaston died of her injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Mary Pepitone, 56, of Douglaston, died at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, according to Alexandra Zendrian, a hospital spokeswoman.

Salvatore Arena, a LIRR spokesman, said MTA police determined that Pepitone "leaped in front of the train" just as the eastbound passenger train was entering the Douglaston Station about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday.
