THE BUDGET

The district is proposing a budget of $7,255,882 for 2010-11, which represents a 0.04 percent increase over the current budget of $7,252,866. The local tax levy would rise to $6,502,236, 3.98 percent above the current $6,253,313.

The average home assessed at $1,000 would pay $1,780 in school taxes, an estimated increase of 0.56 percent over the current $1,770.

The proposed budget includes estimated increases in teacher salaries subject to negotiation later this year.

The budget does not include money for technology purchases.

Another proposition on the ballot asks voters to approve the $507,900 annual budget of the Quogue Public Library, a 4.7 percent increase over the current budget of $485,000.
