John Cena is going to join the Nexus? How the does the WWE want me to believe that? Last night on Raw, Cena was supposed to face Wade Barrett. Instead, Barrett stood on top the announcer’s table and played type role of general manager. If Cena defeated the other members of Nexus he would then face Barrett.

Cena ran the gauntlet successfully pinning Health Slater, Michael Tarver, and David Otunga. Just when it appeared Cena would pin Justin Gabriel, Nexus did their usual run-in to beat down Cena who defended himself with a steel chair. Barrett challenged Cena to a match at Hell in a Cell and if Cena loses he will join Nexus. If Cena wins, Nexus is gone forever. In wrestling terms, that means relocate to Smackdown or break up the group only for them to become singles competitors.

Is there any doubt Cena will beat Barrett at Hell in a Cell? Cena ran through each member of Nexus like it was nothing. Cena even managed to pull off a drop kick in the match. I will repeat: Cena executed a drop kick.

I’m at odds of how I want the match at Hell in a Cell to go. If Cena wins we know Nexus won’t disappear totally for the company. At least Gabriel and Barrett are worth holding on to for singles competition. The others are worthless in my opinion. The entire group has become redundant and they’ve lost their luster since the loss at Summerslam. It might be time for them to end it.

If Cena were to lose and join Nexus, it really won’t spice things up. Cena is the face of the company and joining a heel stable will not last. He might me a member for a few weeks but it will only be a matter of time before he starts undermining them and costing them matches. Nexus will eventually get to the point where they can’t deal with him anymore and throw him out. Then were back right where we started.

The WWE thinks it has fans on the edge of their seat with this stipulation, but I can’t say I am. It’s just not believable that Cena could lose to Barrett one-on-one after he defeated of the entire group last night on Raw. It’s also not believable that Cena will actually “join” Nexus and become a heel. This “lose and join” angle will not serve any long-term purpose.

As for the new WWE Champion, he already has a match with Sheamus at the pay per view in a Hell in a Cell match. Sheamus invoked his rematch clause and Orton accepted. I’m all for Orton as champion as I have rooted for him since day one, but I have a concern.

While Chris Jericho was doing an interview backstage, Orton interrupted and challenged Y2J to a match next week because he’s tired of hearing him talk. This was very unlike the Randy Orton we’ve become accustomed to and rooting for. Orton is more of the quiet type that goes about his business and lets his actions in the ring do all the talking. He’s basically the opposite of John Cena who’s loud and challenges people like Jericho to a match because they’re tired of hearing his rhetoric week after week.

I hope placing the title on Orton doesn’t mean his personality and character will change. His cerebral approach has been gold to watch on Raw. Orton is the anti-Cena and they should remain that way as long as they are on the same show. The WWE cannot afford to shove Orton down the throats of the fans. Sure fans want to see Jericho get his shoulders pinned to the mat. It has never been Orton’s style to be the “voice of the fans” and do what they want. That’s Cena’s job and it should remain that way.

Quick Hits:

*Jericho is on the trail to finding out who the Raw GM is. I guess that means Triple H is ready to return to TV.

*Miz’s attack on Daniel Bryan was the highlight of the show. The attack went on for a few minutes and you couldn’t help but feel bad for Bryan. I have not seen an attack like that with so much emotion for a while. Even Michael Cole didn’t endorse the attack.

*Chris Jericho and John Morrison’s match was probably the best of the night. I would like to see these two do a full feud.

*With the next pay per view titled “Hell in a Cell,” I’m guessing Undertaker and Kane will lock up once more for the Smackdown main event. Kane and Undertaker have faced each other plenty of times in some crazy matches, but never Hell in a Cell.
