Ray Kelly racks up yet another fan
Everybody wants him.
The same day President Barack Obama announced he'd entertain hiring NYPD Commisioner Ray Kelly to run the Department of Homeland Security, Bernhard Goetz - the "subway vigilante" who in 1984 shot four young men he believed were menacing him on the 2 train - said in an interview with Newsmax TV he'd like Kelly to run for mayor of NYC.
"If the Republicans want to get a mayor elected, you know what they should do? Just give Ray Kelly the nomination," said Goetz in an interview on The Steve Malzberg show posted Tuesday night.
Goetz, who was convicted only of illegal firearms possession, also blasted the trial of George Zimmerman as "a political prosecution, just like my case was a political prosecution."
Kelly did not respond to a request for comment relayed through the NYPD. "
