Reasonable eats near the Great White Way; Wales highlights
Q We'll be staying in midtown Manhattan on Veterans Day weekend and catching an 8 p.m. show on Broadway. Can you recommend good pre- or post-theater meals nearby with a tasting menu of less than $100 per person?
A Look at the pre-theater prix fixe menu at DB Bistro Moderne (55 W. 44th St.; 212-391-2400), one of Daniel Boulud's places. It's $48 for three courses, and they're very well versed in getting you in and out in time for the show; just make sure to tell them this before you book. (You could also go a la carte if you don't want to do the three courses.)
Q We have a two-week home exchange in Wales next summer. Besides Snowdonia and the castles, what else is not to be missed?
A You might want to take in some Dylan Thomas sites. The poet was the bard of Wales, and you can visit places associated with him and even have dinner in his childhood home.
Q If I rent a car in France, can I drive it in and out of Belgium?
A You can usually drive the car anywhere in the European Union, or at least in western Europe. But ask your car rental company before you leave.
